Gold Medal in Poland!

Updated: Oct 20, 2019

A year has already passed since I started with this blog! Before travelling back to the States I played three more tournaments in Europe as part of my summer season.

Alessandro Noseda, Robert Foley, Leonardo Bono, Loris Schüpbach, Cedric Gugler, Richard Adby (Coach), Billy Karageorgakis (Captain) and myself travelled to the European Amateur Team Championships Division 2 in Poland with the very clear goal of getting a Top 2 finish for the Swiss Team, which would secure Switzerland a promotion to the first Division for next year. After two extremely solid stroke-play rounds from the entire team, we went into the matchplays as the favourites. A 6-1 victory over Estonia secured us a spot in the finals against Italy, which were finally cancelled due to thunderstorms. Therefore the stroke-play results counted for the final decision and Switzerland won the gold medal. It was an honour to be able to represent Switzerland and help achieving this promotion.

I then participated in the German International Amateur Championship and the Swiss International Championship, managing to stay under par for both events once again. Rounds of 69, 73, 67, 71 saw me finish in 23rd in Germany and 70, 76, 67 gave me an 8th place at the Swiss International in Basel.

I am currently ranked as the 3rd best amateur in Switzerland for 2019 giving me the awesome opportunity to play my first European Tour Event in the Omega European Masters in Crans-sur -Sierre in two weeks' time! I can't wait!
