Slowly back to normal...

As the situation in Switzerland slowly but surely normalized again in Switzerland, golf courses were overflowing with eager players after the lockdown. I, too, was overjoyed to get back out there, practice at proper facilities and practice with my coaches face-to-face (with the 2 metre rule). With national tournaments still only resuming in July however, SwissGolf made the effort to organize multiple one-day 18 hole events all over Switzerland as an opportunity for Swiss golf professionals to earn money again and to challenge the best amateurs in the country. I played three of these so-called "Swiss Golf Tour" events before the first WAGR event at the beginning of July in Crans-sur-Sierre. My first competitive round in a while was in Domat-Ems, where a windy day brought me to a slow start of 74. The next event in Ennetsee was cancelled (after 17 holes!) due to inclement weather. The last of the three was my best event - a six-under-par 66 in Golfpark Moossee. I travelled to Crans-sur-Sierre with high hopes and expectations and opened with a very solid 67. The following two days I struggled with my swing but fought hard for and 73 and 71. This resulted in a T-14 finish in the strongest professional/amateur field the Mémorial Olivier Barras has seen in a while, but I left with a clear goal of what I needed to work on before my upcoming events.

With only one day between, I already tried to integrate some of the swing thoughts for the Club Championships in Zürich-Zumikon. Beautiful weather conditions, some local knowledge and a golf course in pristine condition helped me to an opening 66 (a course record on the renovated course) and a second-round 70, which propelled me to a 15-shot-lead heading into the final day. With a mediocre finish of 74, which included some tiredness of the 6 competitive rounds in 6 days, I captured the Club Championship 2020 by 17 strokes.

I look forward to competing on my home course again during the Swiss International Amateur Championships!
